I guess, the new age Hindi cinema has come here
to stay, irrespective of the fact whether we may like it or not?
This film too is one of such new age modern
cinema. In these new age films there is no requirement of any story line or
theme. Simply one can take off the movie based on an incident or a
thought.
Just weave some dialogues spoken in base voice
(even if they make no sense)………. In serene atmosphere…under dim lighting……..breeze
of air blowing softly……… Care will be taken to add beautiful cinematography;
soothing symphony type back ground score. There you are - you will have a
beautiful canvass of a film. After the movie ends, even if you do not
understand the story, it does not matter much, because you just saw a
beautifully picturized new age film.
I have a feeling that, some people may even say
“you just watched a master piece”.
This movie is also one such film.
Hero is Arjun Rampal. He is a famous film
director who is known to be very moody and romantic. He becomes popular for his
films about an unknown thief who specializes in robbing high value antic
paintings. His films’ names were Guns – 1; Guns – 2;
By the time film starts Arjun Rampal was having
the record of having a history of ‘22 break ups’ in his romantic life. How does
this number of 22 break ups help the story line I could not understand? He goes
to Malaysia for a film shoot for the sequel Guns – 3. There he conceives a plot
of a painting robbery. His imaginary actor for the role of the robber was
Ranbir Kapoor. Whenever Arjun Rampal thinks about the role, we see Ranbir on
screen. If Arjun Rampal is upset for any issue, Ranbir goes off the screen. Jacqueline is the heroine on the screen whom
Arjun meets in Malaysia. So conveniently she will be the heroine in Arjun’s imaginary
heroine character in his film. Hence she romances with Arjun in the life and
also romances with Ranbir in his movie. So we will get to see her smooching and hugging
both Arjun and Ranbir. I think by now you understood that Jacqueline is his 23rd
romantic acquaintance.
Throughout the film both Arjun and Ranbir
appear to us with a puffing cigarette or a whiskey glass in hand. I guess that
is the hall mark of high society people? Whenever two people meet in the film, either
it is Arjun, Jacqueline or Arjun, Anupam Kher or any other two……. Glass with whiskey (on the rocks) and ice
cubes is a standard feature. That is why in the beginning I said welcome to our
new age cinema.
The story narration is interwoven between the
real life incidents of the director Arjun Rampal and his ongoing movie character
Ranbir. Both gets mixed up often and we too sometimes get confused about what
is happening as the heroine for these two on the screen is the same for us –
Jacqueline.
Many dialogues talk about life, love, and
attitude and what not are poured on us during the course of the movie.
I enjoyed the back ground score very much.
Locales were awesome. Malaysia was presented to us on an awesome colourful canvass.
Though there is no comparison: just like the
English films ‘Inception’, ‘Interstellar’ if anybody can understand and
decipher the plot – they may like the movie and enjoy.
I could not decipher the plot.
